Regarding the EPS Garage Door
Guardian Premier |
How does
the backup unit work? |
|
The
EPS Garage Door Guardian Premier is a backup power
supply, specifically prepared to work with garage door
openers. The EPS Garage Door Guardian Premier is mounted on
either a bracket or the wall and is plugged directly into
the outlet that currently runs the garage door opener. The
garage door opener is plugged into the EPS Garage Door
Opener’s outlet. When the power goes out, the
batteries of the EPS Garage Door Guardian Premier take over
the powering of the garage door opener, automatically – no
switch to turn on or worry about. However, at all
times, the EPS Garage Door Guardian Premier provides SURGE
PROTECTION (click here for AEC specifications). |
|
|
What
brand and size of garage door opener will it operate? |
|
We
have tested the EPS Garage Door Guardian Premier with
virtually all residential models. It has
successfully operated 1/3HP and 1/2HP and 3/4 models of Overhead
Door, Marantec, Genie, Liftmaster, Raynor and many more.
In each case, it operates both the opener and the safety
lights. Significantly, it is not only today’s
models that can be operated by the EPS Garage Door
Guardian Premier. Most 1/3HP and 1/2HP and 3/4 models that are
currently installed in garages can be operated by the
EPS Garage Door Guardian Premier. This provides you the
opportunity to gain access to the garage with an
installation and also conduct a maintenance/service
evaluation of their garage door system.
1/2HP and 3/4HP Liftmaster
Commercial openers are also successfully powered by the
EPS Garage Door Guardian Premier. Only heavy
commercial or industrial openers limit the use of the
EPS Garage Door Guardian Premier. |
|
|
How many
times will it operate the door opener after power goes
off? |
|
It
varies by A/C or D/C model. D/C models will open
30 times or more with the safety lights. Some will operate
3 to 6 times with safety lights. A/C models will operate
the safety lights 5 to 10 times. However, the best way to
ensure maximum operating cycles is to change the safety
lights to 60W bulbs. In particular, with a 3/4HP unit, all
lamps should be changed to 60W. |
|
|
How long
does it take to recharge the unit after a power outage? |
|
Recharging the EPS Garage Door Guardian Premier happens
automatically when the power comes back on. The batteries
are recharge by the electrical current without any impact
upon the operation of the garage door opener. 90%
recharge takes place in 6 hours. After 24 hours it is
fully recharged. |
|
|
What
happens in the event there is an overload, power surge or
abnormality in the current supplied through the outlet? |
|
In
the event of an unusual electrical event (other
than loss of power), the EPS Garage Door Guardian
Premier
will shut down to protect the garage door opener and
protect it from damage. In the event the unit does shut
down due to a strong electrical surge, it will require the
“ON” button be pressed to return the unit to operation and
allow the opener to operate. A 40db beeping alarm
will indicate the need to turn the unit on. |
|
|
How is
the EPS Garage Door Guardian Premier mounted to the bracket or
wall? |
|
Mounting bracket
are included with the EPS Garage Door Guardian
Premier that can be used for either
mounting. |
|
|

unit does not retain a charge during its first year,
and is undamaged, we offer no charge replacement when
returned to us in good condition. We stress in our
